Elementary School
Rough Rock's Elementary School is a bilingual/bicultural school that
serves Navajo students in grades K - 5. The school's curriculum is
aligned with Arizona and Navajo Nation standards and incorporates Diné
language and culture into all aspects.
As a former Reading First school, all teachers use best practices in
language and reading instruction with Open Court Reading Program and
intervention provided through Reading Mastery, SRA Corrective Reading,
and Language for Learners. Academic progress is monitored through
multiple assessments, including DIBELS, STAR Reading, and Accelerated
Reading programs. Mathematics instruction is taught using the Saxon Math
Series in all grades.
